Mention that you live in New York City enough, and you'll get it ---- "ugh! what terrible weather." Bitterly cold winters, hot & humid summers.....I admit that my thoughts weren't too far from that when I started spending time here in 2001. But over the past few years I've come to truly know it's all a matter of perspective. It's actually somethin' to throw some love at.
You "get it all" here...every season is represented...days so cold you do everything you can to not go outside, days so nice it's impossible not to....spring buds and flowers, golden leaves in October....boiling summer days where you pray for a breeze, winter wind chills that make you shake your head in disbelief...rain for a week straight in the spring, sun for a week straight in September....rolling thunder and slippery sidewalks....lightning and icicles....you name it, it's gonna be here eventually.
The down side - you better have plenty of closet space -- you need clothes for what seems like 10 seasons. The up side - the changes are invigorating and every year they feel new and fresh...a constant rebirth. Sometimes you don't have to wait a season - a day will do.
Yesterday I walked to meet Ellora at lunch in nothing but shortsleeves...62 degrees introduced itself to 2005....It was spring....twenty four little 'ol hours later we again met for lunch....driving snow and 24 degrees....and tonight I'm dreamin' of that Arizona sun....
